What I like most about Smith house is that the experience of cooperative living was a huge life lesson that no academic course could provide. Road trips and other adventures were equally full of important discoveries. Some Smithies must have international experiences to tell about, either study abroads, volunteer service, or others, that occurred during their stay at the house. Jeremy Cox began telling stories about our adventures in Europe together on the road trip thread. That experience changed my life and I am forever indebted to him for having been there during a pretty scary time. Here is a photo of Jeremy dining on homemade pasta and drinking authentic Spumante at Ivano's house in Italy. And here is a picture of the Pope walking down the center ailse at the Vatican during Christmas Eve Mass in 1991. These are just 2 of some fantastic memories that I hope are inspiring to others. If you had an International Experience while you lived at Smith, let's hear more about it! - Dan

Whoa, great photos Dan.
I have to add that current Smithies should feel free to approach us for advice when going abroad. I don't think I'm alone when I say that we love to share that bit of our lives. They were good times.
That year was amazing and just serendipitous that I met up with 3 other Smithies while in Europe. Dan was also in France, Mark passed through and John Caudill was stationed in Germany at an Army base near Frankfurt. I visited him on a solo train voyage that I did after the one with Dan.
