I just thought a grab bag of ideas might start some discussion.
One favorite memory I have is of getting together with a bunch of Smurthies and Smithies and piling in somebody's pickup truck and going to City Park after dark where we proceeded to play couples hide and seek. So, we paired off boy/girl and went hiding. Well, apparently Mark and his cohort decided to climb the fence to the pool and hide in the water, or maybe they were gonna play marco polo instead or something.
Anyway, it turned into hide from the cops in the water because a patrol car pulled into the park. I *think* a bunch of people piled back into the truck and drove off, but Mark and the girl were stuck. I recall being near the pool and just hiding while the officer parked and shone his spotlight all over the place. He didn't notice anything and drove off. *whew*
Good times.
So, other memorable times that come to mind were The canoe races Rappelling at Tuttle (I never actually went, dangit) 3rd floor hacky sack time B-Ball ticket sale campouts (Again, I never actually went)

Yeah, I have a vague memory of that climb into the pool. Funny how back then I was always wanting to organize people to go have some fun, and today I can barely organize my small family. There were a couple of girls who were good friends at that time, Krystal (whom Scott Hane dated for awhile) and Kristin (I think). I believe it was one or the other of them that hid in the pool with me. Seemed like a good idea at the time!
Yeah, I didn't get in the canoe races much either. I think it was a tradition on its way out when we were coming through the house, although I have a memory of Jim Butterworth in a canoe, so it couldn't have been completely dead then.
Another dying tradition at that time was the marathon, although maybe it never really made it to the level of "tradition."
I remember sitting in the b-ball ticket sale tent a bit, but only as part of the gang. I never got my own tickets, so I wasn't ever a mobilizer or a serious camper. But it sure was a fun atmosphere, with tents, frisbees, and music all over the place.
MESSACACS stands out in my mind as a memorable activity. All the 203 antics with my various groups of roomies there is memorable for me. And I have a couple of very fond memories of 201 and 207 involving a couple special ladies, but I'll keep those memories to myself.

MESSHACACS deserves its own thread. HAHA. I have LOTS of pictures from one memorable year. Probably have to be discussed on the private thread though.
Man the canoe races were awesome. Sean O. and I won one year with a girl named Lara I think. Not that most people treated it very competitively though. I do think it was a campus-wide activity years before right? Whereas when I did it, it was just a fun float with Smithies and Smurthwaite girls. Seems like there were campouts afterwards but I never participated.
Ok, another one just hit me. Anyone recall the night Erick M went driving at night to (I think) learn how to drive a manual and rolled the guy's car? I can't recall whose car it was or who else was with them. There was quite the commotion when they came straggling home with that story.
And then there were fun(?) times with Jim B and fireworks. Jim crafted this bottle rocket launcher out of a plastic tube and some wood. It was a like a miniature bazooka. We took it and a gross of bottle rockets out to Tuttle when the lake was frozen. The rockets when skipping across the lake or diving into melted holes. Pretty cool. Then on the way back, we were in two cars and we started launching them at each other. I remember this very well because somebody let one fly and it blew back into the truck I was riding in and exploded behind the seat. I think we quit after that. LOL

Canoe race was a campus event before and Smith one more than once but it was unofficial because we were not part of the official dorm system. We would camp out by St. Marys and one of those camp outs was when Tiffany and I became an item. It was a raid on our house that I first met her. My first memory of Tiffany is holding a goldfish over her mouth while she had her hands and feet duct taped together. I was thinking "This one's cute". Can't believe we're going on being married 18 years now!
Marathon was another tradition that went by the wayside. Hey, weren't you guys supposed to keep that stuff up?
We could have another thread on just Smurthwaite stories. I broke in there the first week through a window. THe old guys let my out past curfew. We stole all the pillows and cushions from their study room. That was a precursor to the panty raids. Also had to dodge the cops after erecting a very large sign over their front door "S&M Test Zone". It would have been funnier, but they kept asking what does it mean?

I remember a 60s-themed Smurthwaite dance where someone had accidentally made and hung up a Mercedes symbol instead of a peace symbol.

Eric M. rolled Jeff's car as they were coming back from somewhere - I think Pillsbury. I've heard Jeff say before who all was there, but I'm sure it was at least Jeff, Jim, Eric, Dale, and ... who knows. But I'm pretty sure there were 5 of them in the car.
Another of my favorite memories was leaf jumping in the park. I think Jeremy started that tradition, but it didn't last long. After Jeff Steinly (spelling?) hurt his neck and the ambulance took him out, I don't think they put the leaves in that particular valley any more.

Speaking of Smurthwaite... 1) Being obligated to turn Georgianna Smurthwaite's portrait upside-down. 2) Jason Dierks (sp?) filling up his truck with the leaves we'd raked from the lawn and unloading them in Smurthwaite's lower-level fire exit.
