So I'm an ex-Smithie if you will (still in college just not there) anywho who is this Marshall fellow and is he still alive? Honestly Smith House needs a reinforcement of folks like this and he should definitely comeback as an inspirational speaker to the house. I read some of his stories with those in the house and they agree with my thoughts. Enjoy your day.

Yep, I think all of us could probably use a dose of Marshall. I'm guessing he's still alive, but I don't know where he is. There's some chance that he'll live forever.

Like Chet said, after college he moved out to California to fit in better and I believe he married a woman who was half-French, half-Japanese. Maybe we could find him and bring him back for the 50th anniversary.

I heard Marshall moved to Cali as well. However I might have tracked him down online. I located an ebusiness administrator that lives in Columbia Mo named Marshall Henely. He attended Kansas State in the mid to late 1980's. I emailed him and hope to hear back.

One more thing. A new guy at the top said Marshall could be an inspirational leader and that he should speak at the house. That really cracked me up. Marshall would say "Wwwwhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaatttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!" He had an open, innocence that made him a very like-able guy. He was also the most liberal person I had ever met at that time. However he didn't realize how well liked he was. I remember him asking me once "You don't like me do you?" I was surprised and laughed at the absurdity. If the house ran like Marshall, we would have had sex orgy parties like the ancient Greeks. Which makes me wonder. To you younger guys: Do the parties at Smith still have trouble bringing girls besides those from Smurthwaite and Clovia?

Girls? We don't need no stinkin' girls! LOL ;D
I hope you do track down Marshall. If not an inspirational speaker per se, it would be really great if he could make the 50th. And if he's in Columbia, well, heck, that's not very far at all.

I remember Marshall being referred to as "The coolest guy you'll ever meet. The first night I met him was my freshman year when he was visiting the house (in between stints when he lived in the house). Despite having an a research paper due the next day I spent hours participating in a bull session with him and other in the living room. I didn't get started typing the paper until 2 A.M.

WOODY! By your picture you haven't aged a day! I'm looking forward to seeing all you guys in October. We need to do a round of Aggieville "Golf" (though I doubt there's still 18 bars in Manhattan, let alone in stumbling distance. Definitely an evening event at the Chicken!

I am Marshall Henley. Just joined the forum and found this thread. Yikes! Not sure what stories are out there, but I remember a lot of church-going, charitable work, and studying.
Recently hooked up with Randy Hudlin online and am attending the October 10-12 50th anniversary.
I am hoping some of the guys I was roomies with can come (Bob Lee, Boyd Holk, Jeff Hudlin, etc.).
As for me, yes I did move to California (Orange County) right out of college. Ended up with a computer training company that franchised and went national. I bought first franchise with a partner in San Diego, split up after a year. Back to OC and then to Detroit, Houston and finally St. Louis with the same company.
I work with small and mediums sized business owners now. Love the entrepreneur. Would love to talk to Veron Dolezal... very entrepreneurial guy.
Family-wise, I did marry a half-japanese girl who I met in California, had three kids (8F, 13F, 16M) who are awesome. Unfortunately, we divorced in 2004, and I have primary custody of the kiddos, so I'm as busy as a one-armed paper hanger in a butt kicking contest, as Russel Woodworth might say after a few beers. Lightweight.
Feel free to drop me a line. I'm also on Facebook and LinkedIn.
