That sleeping dorm was an experience. Yep, snow on many nights, I slept in the top bunk in the SW corner. Just so they keep the flour out of the beds (danged Smurthies-but we taught them a lesson)

Heat in the sleeping dorm??? What's this world coming to?
I definitely remember waking up with frost on the blankets, but I assumed it was just frozen moisture from my breath. I was always in a bunk next to the door so my "dash" was quite short indeed and I never got actual snow on me. I remember just once getting rained on, when a huge clap of thunder woke a bunch of guys at once and crazy wind and torrential rain started right at that same moment. About ten guys all quickly ran for the door.
My winter technique, once perfected, involved a "forbidden" electric blanket, turned on a few hours in advance, with all the bedding and stuff arranged so I'd have warm everything. I guess I don't have much room to call anyone a sissy for wanting heat now. :-)
I have vague memories of Libor's high-jumps into bed, but my favorite Libor-in-the-sleeping-dorm moment was when he was doing rack out one morning. I was starting to wake up, so I was a spectator to what happened. Libor had to wake Freddy, and as he shook Fred's foot a huge fart issued forth. Libor was taken by surprise and started busting a gut laughing, and he turned tail and RAN out of the room to try and keep the noise down for those still sleeping. I'll never forget the sound of running footsteps mingled with badly concealed laughter.

As breakfast cook, I would freeze a several day old dish rag. On chilly mornings, lift covers and toss in the stiff and usually most would wake from that.

However, Chet really got me one night. I had wind up alarm clock to get ready for 1st breakfast cook.
I wake up after my alarm went off, checked the time, walked out of the sleeping dorm. I noticed that WOW alot of people pulled an all nighter. I get to my room and was asked Jerry what are you doing up. Those clocks showed something like 10:30 or 11:00.
Chet slept below me so that when I returned to my bunk it was shaking because he was laughing so hard.
Do you remember that Chet?

Electric blankets are forbidden? That was the only way my wimpy butt survived: two electric blankets, one for top and one for bottom. Sleeping bag on top of that. I'd start them 10 minutes before going to bed. I'd usually turn them off after getting in bed unless it was viciously cold.
My most memorable experience in the sleeping dorm was in December of '89 during finals. We had record-setting weather that day - the fastest temperature drop in history. It was a real Indian-summer day - 80 degrees. I had pulled an all-nighter studying for finals and went up to sleep in a pair of shorts in late afternoon. An arctic front moved in right at sundown. The temperature went from 80 to 30 in one hour. It wasn't the most welcome nap interruption I've had.

Good Stories Remember hanging the bunks off the side of the fire escape, so we could have formals, clean-up and have everything back in order, by 2 ish. Do they ever parties at the house in the sleeping dorm, or did that go away. Regular socials were in the dining room.
